Don Can Help

Steps To Getting On the Web:

  1. What Is The Purpose Of The Website - Do you need a "web pressence" or do you want to inform and educate. The reasons can be varied; but it helps to know why you want to be on the web.
  2. What Do You Expect From Your Website - This is critical because many people do not have a clear understanding of what the Internet can and can not do.
  3. Website Name - you need to decide what your name will be, then we can determine if that name is available. Names can be up to 67 characters - using the Letters of the Alphabet and Numbers 0 through 9. You can also use characters DASH or HYPHEN ( - ), but not as the First or Last character of the Name. While the selection of a name is important, you need to remember that often getting a unique name is difficult.

Designing Your Website

  1. Look For Ideas - There's really not a lot of fresh ideas out there because there are SO MANY websites. Surf the web to see what you like. Write down those website and what you like about them.
  2. Write Down Your Ideas and Structure Them - Most people will not scroll or pan on a web page, so don't try to put too many ideas on a single page. Your Home Page is like an Index or Table of Contents, designed to drive people to the other pages in your website.
  3. Collect Pictures and Graphics - Pictures you take are OK, but if you get them from someone else - you must have permission. If you have Business Graphics you can use them; but, you can't copy graphics from other websites.
